I know several of the folks I subscribe to are also on Facebook; I'm curious if any of y'all are using the "Publish this entry to your Facebook profile" feature.
I have a feeling most of you don't, because I've read posts about having Xanga as a place where you can say what you can't on the book-of-faces. And let's face it, part of the appeal of Xanga is the relative anonymity you can have here. Yes, I know who some of you are, and vice versa, but it's been our choice to reveal ourselves. Not everyone seeks that anonymity - Tom is a good example - but a lot of that depends on just what you publish here.
I've had times when I've been tempted to use the Facebook option here, but I have a feeling I won't. Even after my great blog purging of a couple of years ago, I'm not completely comfortable with the idea of airing my Xanga site to the world. I don't think I've written anything that I'd mind the folks I know personally reading (or in the rare instances I have, I've actually protected those posts), but I'd rather not have to worry about it.
Feel free to chime in with your opinion; I'd like to know if I'm the only one who's kinda protective of my Xanga site, even if I'm not here all that often anymore.

I had a facebook a few years back but I immediately shut it down after I found out the HR department at work researched all applicants on it. Also, I paid for lifetime and I'm too cheap to leave it here. Just my 2 cents!
I don't use the "post to Facebook" thingy. This place is my sanctuary.
@Lenore_HappenstanceI worry about too, but that's why my Facebook is only visible to my "friends."
I am on Facebook but I never show my blogs there as too many of my real life friends and family are there so I like to keep my blogs just to my Xanga friends. You are welcome to add me as your friend on Facebook
@PunkDiva - You're right about this being a sanctuary. I don't feel "weird" here. And the people I'm trying to get away from are the people in my real freakin' life! I see them every day. I don't need to see them on the internet. I like that we're NOT like minded on Xanga vs. the (borrowed term) hive mind that surrounds me.
LOL. When you answered me yesterday, I didn't understand what "book-of-faces" meant. Now I get it. Duh. I have a page on Facebook, but even there I don't use my real-real name. There are too many people there who I don't want to be finding me by it. While I have 2 or 3 in-person friends over there, I still am extremely guarded in what I write about. They are my public friends who know my public thoughts and opinions and worries. Here at Xanga, I am far more open - this is the real me, the deepest self, the truth. While I don't have much to say lately, I've always opened my heart fully on Xanga. I met people here who embraced me that way. I found people similar to myself here. I started out having a fully public Xanga, but then there was a time when idiots were ruining the sacredness by posting stupid things or someone was stalking someone else and mining my blog for ammunition, etc. Then I closed it off to the public and kept just my Xanga friends on. I'm not sure why I feel I can be me on Xanga but not anywhere else. I guess it's cuz we all can use aliases here and come together out of common interest or sympathies ... Facebook asks for real names and it seems more of a place for people who already know each other to come together (which isn't necessarily based on common interest or sympathies).

After I wrote it, I was afraid you might not get the Stephanie-speak to English translation of "book-of-faces", which is why I used it in this post, as well. Not that Facebook is a dirty word around here or anything, but sometimes it almost feels like it is.
